不过，你知道火锅的英文表达吗？到底是hotpot还是hot pot？

别看hotpot和hot pot之间只是一个空格的区别，实际上，二者意思可差得远了。

其中，hot pot才是正正宗宗表示“火锅”的意思。

例：This weather is very good for stay in bed and eat hot pot.

这绝对是一个吃火锅和睡懒觉的好天气！

而hotpot所表达的东西也是一个锅里装的，不过这个锅里装的可能是一些土豆、洋葱以及炖肉。

因为hotpot的中文意思就是“热锅炖菜”、“罐焖菜肴”，比如lamb hotpot（罐焖羊肉）。

如果大家怕区分不清hotpot和hot pot的话，也可以用chaffy dish来表达“火锅”的意思。

如果你在国外点餐说："I'd like a hotpot."，服务员会给你端一份连锅的土豆洋葱炖肉，类似大杂锅。火锅的英文应该是hot pot，中间是分开的，如果你怕说错，可以用chaffy dish。

Soup pot ≠ 清汤锅

身边总有一位不吃辣的朋友，吃火锅必点一个鸳鸯锅锅，一边麻辣一边清汤，但soup pot是平时用来煲汤的锅，并没有清汤锅的意思，清汤锅的正确表达是plain broth。

“辣”在英文不仅能用spicy，还能用hot。

spicy和hot的区别：

hot：热的、辣的。

hot指普通的辣，但更侧重于热的感受。

spicy：辛辣的、多香料的。

spicy偏向于辛辣，比hot的程度更深、更接近辣。而且spicy不仅仅表示味道辣，它也可以表示气味的刺激、辛辣。

所以不辣的正确表达是not spicy。
